Tolo Mountain Fire Update – August 1, 9:00 a.m

Central Oregon – Despite continued thunderstorm activity and gusty winds over the fire area, the Tolo Mountain Fire burning on the Deschutes National Forest remains 41 acres and is now 50% contained.

Crews continue to make good progress securing the perimeter of the fire. Four skidgines are supplying water to the firefighters cooling hot spots up to 100 ft inside containment lines of the main fire and well as several spot fires. This work will continue until the entire fire perimeter and all spot fires are cold to the touch.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for abundant lightning across most of Central Oregon tomorrow. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are forecast along with the potential for gusty outflow winds that may contribute to increased fire activity in Central Oregon.

The Tolo Mountain Fire approximately three miles north of Cappy Mountain on the Crescent Ranger District was reported July 27, 2022 at 5:45 pm and is burning in heavy timber with a mix of standing dead and downed wood.
