TEXT “COFIRE” TO 888-777 TO RECEIVE WILDFIRE & PRESCRIBED FIRE TEXT ALERTS

Riverside and Beachie Creek Fire Update, October 11

General Information: Showers will persist throughout the day.  Rain amounts by Monday morning will bring another inch to the fire areas.  Ridgetops may receive wind speeds of 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 30 mph.  Fire behavior is anticipated to be minimal due to the recent precipitation.  No aircraft operations are planned due to the weather.  New resources will replace the Canadian firefighters that returned home today.  Firefighters will determine how to safely engage after yesterday’s wind and rain event.  Weakened trees remain a concern with incoming winds.  Crews on the ground will be watchful of possible landslides or erosion that might pose a safety hazard.  The public is asked to be vigilant near any burned areas.

Riverside Fire: Firefighters will continue with fire suppression repairs as needed.  Patrolling and monitoring of the fire line is ongoing.

Beachie Creek Fire: The fire area is too wet for mechanical equipment.  Hand crews and engines continue the fire suppression repair work where it is safe and appropriate to engage.
