Smoke Forecast, September 2

Fire
A ridge of high pressure will continue to bring increasingly hot
temperatures and dry conditions to the area today and through
the weekend. This will bring elevated fire weather concerns
through this afternoon for uncontained wildfires. Today, fire
behavior intensifies with higher temperatures and low
humidity. Winds from the north this morning and then
northwest this afternoon into the early evening will result in
very active spread when winds align with slope. Interior
unburned islands should continue to clean up and another day
of perimeter growth is anticipated on uncontained wildfires.
Smoke
Forecast north winds should result in improving air quality this
morning through the early afternoon when winds turn
northwest. This will move light to moderate smoke into the
Bend, Redmond, La Pine, and Sisters communities late
afternoon and evening. Lighter winds are forecast for
tomorrow resulting in air quality impacts more local to the
wildfires.
